Top Singapore Socio-political Blogs 2007

Listen to this article Listen to this article

Didn't someone recently argue in the Straits Jacket that 'S'poreans can't be bothered', to be cyber-activists. Well we can all get into a very unnecessarily academic debate about the nature of the term 'cyber-activist'. But as I continue to collate the political blogs out there and when you remember that Singapore has a population of under 4 million, then 49 (and counting) 'political' bloggers is nothing to laugh at.

As of 17th July 2007, and only blogs that have been active for the last year. The blogs highlighted in yellow are not ranked but still considered to be socio-political blogs. The reason they are not ranked is because they did not have technorati information available on the day of the study. If you go today you will also notice that the rankings are in constant flux and some blogs such as i-Speak: Gayle Goh are no longer active.

I am of course aware that a list like this is very difficult to compile as I may not have listed all the blogs considered to be political and some are listed eventhough the owner will state that they are not political all the time. It is a work in progress. If you click here or on the image you will be taken to an interactive version of the entire list of (49) blogs.

Ranking According to Technorati
1 mrbrown 1752
2 mrbrownshow 10729
3 Mr Wang Says So 14500
4 i-Speak: Gayle Goh 31029

I wish there were some way we could work together on one spreadsheet so that we'll have a definitive list. We're all updating our own lists now which makes duplicate effort. I guess if we're sharing the lists publicly we could always refer off one another. :)

Hi..

I agree with Kevin that we should have a consolidated list. I myself am getting confused.

Nonetheless, I commend you for putting a list together.

If we can have a consolidated one, we can help publicise it. Just drop us an email at theonlinecitizen@gmail.com

Regards,
Andrew

HI all

As I am compiling this list for my on-going research it needs to meet certain requirements. One thing I don't want to do is include blogs that existed for a few weeks, months or days.

A list that includes every Sg socio-political blog is rather a tall request.

So someone out there wishing to compile a list that is as comprehensive as possible is more than free to access and copy this list and I will be grateful to receive the list and add my two cents worth.
