Jail Again After Too Many Strokes Of The Cane

495989065.jpgNow I find this rather interesting... this criminal is not rehabilitated nor afraid to reoffend - last year 21-year-old Dickson Tan Yong Wen was paid an 'undisclosed' amount of money to settle out of court, after he had sued the government for receiving too many strokes of the cane.

Tan was sentenced in February, 2007 to nine months' jail and five strokes of the cane after being found guilty of "abetting a loanshark to harass a debtor". However, due to a clerical error made by the court, prison authorities proceeded with doling out eight strokes of the cane by accident.

This time around, Tan was again arrested for loan-sharking activities, charged for "abetment in unlicensed moneylending". He was arrested with another man on November 6th near Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

Tan pleaded guilty on Monday to four of seven charges he was up for. This time he was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment - strangely enough, no caning?
