That's a great documentary piece. Many who are old enough have forgotten how it was "back in the day". The young' un's generally have no idea. Most of them have swallowed the PAP pill and are essentially brainwashed. There are exceptions, of course.
The corruption of the police (Special Branch) for political (ideological) ends started a long time ago. You can draw parallels with the inquisitions of the medieval church, Hitler's "purging" of the undesirables, McCarthy-ism, among other incidents. All have one thing in common: the apparatus of the state is commandeered to "weed out" the wrong ideologies corrupting the legal and justice systems.
Whilst I have no sympathy of neither left-wing socialist nor right-wing fascist ideologies, I believe people should be free to hold and express those ideas as long as they do it without trampling over the rights of other individuals. The government/state has no place in deciding what ideas individuals should "follow".
